Aaron Swartz

I recently watched the documentary on Aaron Swartz, titled “The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz”. It talked about a boy growing up who was able to learn very quickly and discover the flaws in our society and that he wanted the internet to be a place to be human’s society legacy and not a place where companies could publicise their offerings in exchange for money. The example that he uses was that government record information should be free but isn’t and blocked by a paywall where you can only access the information if you pay a handsome sum of money. He later gets charged by an article publisher for downloading lots of their articles for actions that were yet to be done. He has a blog page that he wrote his thoughts to. The link is here.

What is sad is that he is now gone. As a visionary for the future, to me he had a one of a kind creative mind that wanted what was best for the world through the internet and a few of his mental mindsets that didn’t think comply with the world will stay with me.
